For a long time, it was considered certain that Erling Haaland would leave BVB this summer. According to current media, however, a move for the Norwegian is on the way. According to reports, the offers for the Norwegian are significantly lower than initially thought. Will Bayern weaken again and get back into poker transfer?
In recent weeks, there have been many indications that Real Madrid and Manchester City will fight for Erling Haaland. However, as ‘SPORT1’ journalists Patrick Berger and Oliver Müller report in the ‘Die Dortmund-Woche’ podcast, Haaland’s transfer is much more difficult than expected.
Even though the 21-year-old striker is on the wishlists of almost every big club, BVB have so far received hardly any convincing offers for him. After “SPORT1“-Information has given Manchester City the best offer so far. As a result, the Sky Blues are offering a transfer fee of €105m and an annual salary of €30m gross. Haaland is therefore significantly cheaper than what has always been said in recent months. The total amount for a five-year deal is ‘only’ €250m. A few weeks ago, figures of 350 to 400 million euros were still circulating.
Injury susceptibility discourages clubs
As the TV broadcaster claims to have learned, many clubs are being very cautious. FC Barcelona can’t afford Haaland next summer. Jürgen Klopp has already said publicly that Liverpool FC will not try to get Haaland. Chelsea will continue to be sanctioned and will not be able to buy or sell players. Manchester United are currently only 7th in the Premier League and are at risk of missing out on the Champions League. And Real Madrid are said to have doubts whether they should seriously try to get Haaland. With Karim Benzema, Real currently have the fittest striker in the world in their ranks and PSG star Kylian Mbappe is ahead of Haaland in the rankings.
It’s also worth noting that it’s not just the financial terms that worry clubs, but also the very high injury susceptibility that has an effect on interest and, above all, the price. Haaland has already missed 16 games this season and continues to struggle with growing problems.
Are Bayern still thinking?
Haaland’s latest poker developments should certainly have been noted in Munich. It’s an open secret that the record champions have already dealt intensively with the striker internally. Much to the chagrin of Robert Lewandowski. Reportedly, there was even an informal exchange with Haaland’s adviser Mino Raiola. So far, however, Bayern have stayed out of the poker transfer game as the overall package was seen as too expensive. However, if the rumor of 250 million euros is indeed confirmed, the inhabitants of Säbener Strasse will certainly start thinking again.
The reasons are obvious: the extension with Lewandowski is extremely difficult. According to “Sport BILD”, the Pole is demanding a new contract until 2025 and an annual salary of 30 million euros. How things will continue this summer if the club and the players don’t agree is completely open. But one thing is clear: without a suitable replacement, the FIFA World Cup footballer will not be allowed to leave. Haaland certainly falls into this category.
