Alexander Zverev: victory in Monaco – with which the star Sophia Thomalla encourages him – mix sports

Labor victory thanks to the celebrity fan club!

Alexander Zverev (24) started the Monaco Masters with a victory. The best German tennis player defeats Argentinian Federico Delbonis (31) in the second round 6-1, 7-5. At the start of the tournament, Zverev had a bye as number two on the seed list.

When he wins, the tennis star gets the support of an entire celebrity fan club!

His partner Sophia Thomalla (32), who follows Zverev’s performances live in as many tournaments as possible, is feverish in the stands. The actress usually sends sweet greetings to loved ones – but this time she’s not alone!

Before the game, Alec Völkel (50), lead singer of the Berlin country rock band The BossHoss, posted a photo of himself and Thomalla on the site. Also pictured: Martin-Patrick Pos, founder of Cybex. The company manufactures high-end child seats and strollers.

Thomalla reposted the photo with a total of five people and wrote in English: “Let’s go to Center Court! Alex Zverev’s team.”

Zverev’s little fan club is having an effect!

The world number three leaves Delbonis no chance in the first set. Delbonis, ranked 34th in the world, produces eight unforced errors and does not field a (!) winner.

In the second round, the game suddenly turns. Delbonis is improving, Zverev is making more mistakes at the start and has been looking for a break for a long time. But he comes back, after eleven points in a row, Zverev has made up the deficit – and still gets the set!

Zverev: “Everything can’t always go perfectly in the first match. Federico is a good player on clay, that too, you can’t forget that. So I’m happy to be in the third round.”

After the elimination of number one Novak Djokovic (34 years old / Serbia), Zverev is one of the big favorites to win the tournament. In the round of 16, the German meets the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta (30/world No. 19) on Friday.
