TELEVISION – Holy Mess in the Season 13 Kitchens. One of the standout contestants of this season of “Top Chef” has disappeared from the program airing this Wednesday, April 13th on M6.
What was the audience’s surprise before this ninth episode of the cooking competition, when Stéphane Rotenberg announced that the contestant Lilian Douchet “had to withdraw from the competition for personal reasons”. A setback, the details of which were not given during the broadcast, but which allowed Wilfried Romain, recently eliminated, to reintegrate the adventure into Paul Pairet’s team.
“As stipulated in the regulations, he will be replaced by Wilfried, who was the last to leave,” the host explained at the beginning of the show. An unexpected departure with no real explanation that has not left viewers indifferent, linked to the atypical career of this chef.
In fact, Lilian was one of the collateral victims of the Covid-19. Having just bought his first restaurant, the coronavirus prevented the young chef from opening his establishment and forced him to give up cooking – for almost two years – to a job as a hypermarket manager.
Which causes misunderstanding among fans of the M6 competition. On Twitter, they didn’t hide their disappointment at having more explanations for the departure.

“No, I didn’t notice anything… Well, if Lilian has let her hair grow out, but hey, we’re not going to blow the bugle every time we comb our hair, are we?” #top chefpic.twitter.com/yt8EAP6l9K

On Instagram, the chef also announced without further explanation without saying goodbye, but wanted to reassure his fans in a short video: “Thank you all for all your messages, I had to leave the competition, but nothing serious calm down, I kiss you firmly and I say see you soon”.
Lilian’s return?
Turnaround at the very end of the show. In the few images M6 is offering to announce next week’s episode – which will exceptionally be broadcast on Thursday April 21 due to the debate between two rounds of the presidential election – a return of Lilian is still possible.
In a special test, Lilian and the candidate who was just eliminated this Wednesday have to face the other candidates from “Top Chef” in order to hope for a return to the show. It is therefore not excluded that Lilian will be able to find a brigade after his exposure.
A dose of luck that wouldn’t hurt this contestant as his journey on the show has been frustrating. During the “Restaurant War” test, Lilian’s team had not had a chance to open theirs, causing the return of their old demons after their restaurant’s launch was canceled due to Covid-19.
