So there was something in the rumours: on Wednesday RTL denied that presenter Nazan Eckes wanted to leave the Cologne broadcaster. The broadcaster clarified: “We cannot confirm that Nazan is leaving Eckes RTL. There are very specific plans for a big theme night with her and for a series of interviews that we are currently working on with Nazan.”

A day later, however, Nazan clarified: “All signs point to a change for me at the moment. This is why I have decided to end the previous exclusive collaboration with RTL and hand over my show ‘Extra’.”

Nazan Eckes reports to his fans

The 45-year-old took to her fans on Instagram with a statement. She writes, among other things, moving words about her time at RTL:

“When you’ve worked for a company for so long, it all feels a lot like ‘family.’ it’s my life .”

She also writes that she found friends and celebrated successes, but she also speaks of “quarrels and panic”. “Like in a real relationship …” comments the host pensively. “But now it’s time for me to try new things and leave the comfort zone…” Eckes explains his career change.

It also confirms RTL’s press release, which talks about other formats and projects that the broadcaster plans to set up with Eckes. In addition, she announces in her Instagram statement that she will “realize dreams and ideas that have nothing to do with my previous work as a moderator”. She now wants to “live a bit in free fall”, she continues, and closes her statement with these words:

Nazan Eckes’ father died last year after suffering from dementia. For this reason, the presenter took a break from television afterwards.

Nazan Eckes took over as main moderator of the Monday program “Extra – das RTL-Magazin” in 2019 from Birgit Schrowange, who had presented the magazine for 25 years. Eckes started his RTL career in 1999 with the weather moderation of the regional program “Guten Abend RTL”. She then hosted “RTL II News” and “Life! – The desire to live”. She hosted the first three seasons of “Let’s Dance” and was also on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. For years she also stood in front of the camera for “Explosiv – Das Magazin”.

A lot has happened on the contestants’ farms since the last season “Bauer sucht Frau”. RTL revealed this week that suckler cow owner Nils and his Vanessa have gotten engaged – a nice twist for the farmer, after all his first lady-in-waiting Sabrina didn’t spark the show at all, he took a second attempt.
