This Porsche Design signed PC screen makes fun of the Apple Studio Display

We could have been wary of the Porsche Design logo, it’s clear that this screen is very interesting.

Porsche Design AOC Agon Pro PD32M

A PC screen for $1,800, or around €1,600 excluding taxes, is not that surprising. That’s the price for the current Apple Studio Display. When you’re told it’s a screen-embossed Porsche design created in collaboration with AOC, you’ll be sure to look the other way. This time, however, it would be wrong not to look at the data sheet.

Mini LED technology

AOC used a screen with mini-LED technology, a technology superior to many monitors. This is a very new technology on monitors, found on the Samsung Odyssey G9 but also on the latest iPad Pro 12.9 M1. The integration of mini-LED technology theoretically allows for higher brightness and greater contrast.

An increase in contrast also helps to deal well with HDR, Porsche’s display and AOC certification VESA DisplayHDR 1400, which guarantees it will hit at least 1,400 nits of brightness with HDR content. However, Porsche Design claims that the monitor can actually reach 1,600 nits. Regarding DCI-P3 color coverage is 97%. The PD32M has performance worthy of good gaming screens, its 4K resolution is accompanied by a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, a response time of 1ms (GtG) and there’s also Adaptive Sync support.

The Porsche Design AOC Agon Pro PD32M, which will only be available in June, is a PC monitor designed and developed by the Porsche Design Division in collaboration with AOC, a renowned hardware manufacturer. As for Porsche Design, it is a sub-brand of the German company known for its luxury sports cars, founded in 1974. Its electronics range currently only includes a Bluetooth mouse, which sells for €100 and is manufactured by Acer, but the company also sells a variety of products including sunglasses and a lighter.

It’s a screen that also includes RGB lighting, which in itself is questionable. The PD32M’s colored lighting is located on the back of the display, a common feature of gaming displays from AOC, Asus, and Acer. The monitor also comes with a remote control should you wish to use the screen as a TV.

Whether it’s Acer or Asus, you won’t find a PC screen with such a nice spec sheet, even the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX Mini LED or the Acer Predator X32 are mini LED screens that don’t have the monitor build.
