Throughout the Easter weekend, tributes were to follow in the arenas of Gard, Hérault and Provence for razeteur Enzo Robert, who died in the middle of the Camargue race on Thursday 14 April.
A single log for multiple tributes. This Easter weekend, everyone in the Bouvine will inevitably be thinking of his young raseteur Enzo Robert (20), who lost his life this Wednesday after an accident the day before in the middle of the Camargue race in the arenas of the Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer.
It is a unique tribute protocol devised by the French Federation of Camargue Races (FFCC). In the arenas of the region, the entrance of the raseteurs follows that of the turners, shepherds and guards in capelado mode in two rows.
“His smile lit up the arenas”
in the middle of the track, a tribute text should be read. It will trace the career of the man who “took his first steps at the Raseteurs school in Sommières, along with all his friends on the circuit”.
“His good humor, his smile and his kindness lit up the arenas,” summarizes the text of the FFCC, which is linked to “the immense pain of his family, his relatives, his friends and his educators”. His reading is followed one minute of applause.
The tribute will not take place in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, the city has decided to cancel all its Easter events after the tragedy. The French Federation of Camargue Races has also announced that all league races scheduled until April 20 have been cancelled.
Trophée des As et de l’Avenir this weekend
Races take place throughout the weekend. This Friday afternoon, the arenas of Arles opened the ball with a competition of four herds to start the feria. The races, which also count towards the As trophy, will take place this Sunday at 4pm in Grau-du-Roi and this Monday at 4pm in Lunel and Mouriès.
Regarding the Future Trophy, five races are scheduled this Saturday at 4 p.m. in the arenas of Saint-Laurent-d’Aigouze, Saint-Chaptes, Eyguières, Tarascon and Pernes-les-Fontaines. The next afternoon, new races are organized in Saint-Laurent-d’Aigouze, Vendargues, Marsillargues, Plan d’Orgon and Fontvieille. So many opportunities to make a man out of Enzo Robert, that “young man in white who went to paradise”.
