Not in development hell, says CD Projekt VP

The release of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” for PS5 and Xbox Series has been postponed for the second time. Because many people assume that there will be difficulties in development, Vice President Michał Nowakowski said a few words about it.

The next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally slated for release in 2021. The same goes for “Cyberpunk 2077”, which has meanwhile been released for current systems. Fantasy RPG with Geralt gets pushed back again, like CD Projekt RED announced Wednesday.

As this is the second shift, many assume developmental issues. This hypothesis did not escape Michał Nowakowski, who therefore commented on it during a discussion with investors. Note: Nowakowski works at the Polish development studio as Vice President of Corporate Development.

“I looked at the headlines popping up here and there on the internet. And I saw one that caught my eye which was ‘Witcher 3 Next-Gen Indefinitely Delayed’ which makes it look like the game is in a sort of development hell.

Don’t worry about waiting too long

According to Nowakowski, this is not the case at all. Only the development was taken over, which Saber Interactive was previously responsible for. A “monumental period of time” before the game hits the market is to be feared.

A particularly large number of employees wouldn’t need the revised versions of the highly acclaimed action-RPG anyway. According to official information, the number is only 15 developers. So go to portage the next adventure The Witcher not touch.

Just yesterday, CD Projekt RED announced the game’s current sales figures. Since its release in May 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold an incredible 40 million copies. The studio has shipped over 65 million copies of the entire series, with the third main spin-off making up the majority.

The latest figures are also available for the cyberpunk adventure: 16 months after its first release, “Cyberpunk 2077” has sold at least 18 million copies. A great success, which should be followed in 2023. Then, a great expansion should come out that also delayed.
