Nine people were tried this Thursday and Friday for drug trafficking organized between Toulouse, Muret and Spain between 2018 and 2021. In January 2021, the police and gendarmes seized 418 kg of cannabis.
Their arrest is remembered by the residents of Pins-Justaret. In the late morning of January 21, a T-Roc and a Hyundai crossed the city center of the city south of Toulouse at more than 130 km/h. We came close to disaster when passers-by narrowly avoided them.
Several police officers and gendarmes on their heels asked them to stop, but the fugitives had not listened. And when they encountered a roadblock, the drivers of the two suspect vehicles hadn’t lifted the pedal. They even ripped open the door of a police car before attempting to ram another officer. This crazy race ended in Saubens, another village 5 km away.
At that time, OFAST police officers and gendarmes from the Muret research brigade got their hands on 418 kg of cannabis resin (!). Nine suspects involved in this drug trade were tried before the Toulouse Criminal Court on Thursday and Friday. Offenses committed between September 2018 and January 2021.
7 years required against manager
“The investigation into the letters rogatory clearly defined the roles,” President DidierSuc recalled of the defendants. Five are seated in the box, the others on the benches, with their backs to their lawyers. Apparently, a 29-year-old man would be at the head of this drug network. He would have organized the purchase of cannabis in Spain, more precisely in Barcelona.
A lead car and the T-Roc drove there on January 20th before returning on the 21st with a well-stocked trunk. Then, like in the film, they bagged the drugs to hide them in a third car. A maneuver that ended up being useless. According to the investigation, the goods confiscated by the police should enable the supply of several trading points in Toulouse and the surrounding area. As is often the case with this type of deal, respondents denied their involvement. Both at the hearing and on the day of the hearing. “This attitude is unbearable,” enthuses the President.
After the plea by Me Clémence Doumenc, who defended the interests of the police officers injured during the arrests, the public prosecutor took the floor. Sentences of imprisonment ranging from 15 months to 7 years were required, depending on the involvement of the accused. My Rucel, David, Derieux, Dunac, Machado-Torres spoke in favor of defence. After deliberation, the accused receive prison sentences of 1 to 7 years.
