Lena Meyer-Landrut made an embarrassing mistake on “The Voice Kids.” Sat.1 / andré kowalski
The tenth season of “The Voice Kids” has been underway since early March. In the anniversary season of the talent show This year, Álvaro Soler, Lena Meyer-Landrut, Wincent Weiss as well as Smudo and Michi Beck are looking for young singing talents on a double chair. Another special feature of this special edition “The Voice Kids” is that not only the contestants appear, but also former participants of “The Voice Kids” like Iggi Kelly or Mike Sinder.
On Friday, the last participants had the chance to obtain a place in the teams of Álvaro Soler, Lena Meyer-Landrut, Wincent Weiss or the Fanta-Vier-Double. But the coaches were also keen to integrate the most promising talents into their squad. However, while wooing young singer Ben, Lena made an embarrassing misstep.
Lena Meyer-Landrut confuses Phil Collins and Elton John
Ben, 12, provided a very special moment on “The Voice Kids” stage: he sang Oasis’ “Wonderwall” – but not in the well-known version, but in a jazz variation by Paul Anka. With this performance, he thrilled the entire jury: everyone pressed the buzzer and wanted Ben on their team. So Lena praised:
“Such a beautiful voice, paired with this song in this special version, takes a lot of courage. It’s definitely rewarded with a four-way buzzer here.”
It was now up to Ben to decide which team he would like to join. When he said that Phil Collins was his favorite singer, Álvaro saw his chance. He offered the young musician to sing a song by Phil Collins. When Álvaro took the stage for this, Lena expressed a wish for music:
“Can I make a wish to Phil Collins? How about ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’?”
However, as Álvaro correctly pointed out, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” is not by Phil Collins but by Elton John. Then he half-angrily said, “Lena, you’re out!” So the “Strip” singer took her own life with Ben and also refrained from bringing the 12-year-old to her team.
Finally, for contestant “The Voice”, Álvaro sang “Another Day in Paradise” and added “Ben, come to my team”. Álvaro had to choose the right strategy, because in the end Ben actually chose his team.
Just in time for Easter there has been an exceptional rule change at the “Grill den Henssler”. Was it a good idea… questionable? Then the new rules of the game have shaken a lot: TV chef Steffen Henssler cost them the win, moderator Laura Wontorra struggled to talk to celebrities and game rounds between courses went from a fun break to a boring interruption for the cooks.
