Valve’s series of “Portal” puzzle platformers are always popular with gamers. One of the games writers now wants a third installment.
Portal and Portal 2 co-writer Erik Wolpaw has worked on many other games besides the Puzzle series. These include “Psychonauts”, “Half-Life 2: Episode One” and “Two”, “Left 4 Dead”, and “Half-Life Alyx”. But what he would most like to work on is “Portal 3”. The author recently revealed this in a podcast. According to him, why he would like to start working as soon as possible is quite simple: he is not getting any younger either.
The author would start working immediately
“We need to launch Portal 3, that’s my message to you. Whatever you can do, let’s do it, let it happen. Because yeah, I’m not getting any younger either and we’re getting to the point where it’s crazy to think that I will literally be too old to work on Portal 3 so we should just do it,” Wolpaw said on kiwi’s talc podcast

“So there’s a lot of opportunity cost when you take 75 people and try to make a game. Although it often seems like Valve is just a bunch of people sitting by the pool sipping gin and tonic , everyone works. You work all the time. It’s just that you don’t always see the result. Sometimes something doesn’t come out, or it comes out years later, or it turns into something else. I think what I mean is that everyone is taken into account. People are all doing something. So you almost have to take them with you – it’s like a revolution – [und] ask a group of people to leave what they’re working on and work on something else, in which case it would be Portal 3.”
