Direct promotion: Toulouse will have to wait, Ajaccio continued
Confirmation of TFC increase will await. Toulouse, who will soon join Ligue 1, have picked up just one point from Sochaux (1-1), another contender for membership. A very early goal (6th) scored by R. Ndiaye from the left after a first shot from the right was blocked by the Violets’ defense allowed the Doubistes to open the scoring. But Toulouse responded with Rouault (51′), who scored a controversial goal after an exceptional mix-up.
For his part, Ajaccio seems ever closer to taking off towards the French elite at the end of the season. Against Dunkirk, the ACA conceded the fifth success in a row (2:1), not without being burdened with doubts. After 17 minutes, the Corsican were still 2-0 up (17′) thanks to a header from Courtet (2′) and a direct left-footed free kick from Marchetti.
But a stupid goal conceded after a serious defensive error revived the northerners (Majouga, 64th). Suddenly very feverish, the islanders could even have conceded a second goal. Still, they maintained their success and three-point lead over Auxerre (3rd), while the PFC (4th) is four lengths and Sochaux (5th) is six lengths.
The play-offs: Auxerre cling to the podium, Paris FC win through suffering
Auxerre is clinging firmly to third place. With a win over Dijon (2-1), the Icaunaise team defended their one-point lead over PFC (4th) and sent Sochaux (5th) by three lengths. The very tight breath of these two teams could not paralyze AJA, who already led 2-0 at the break, with Hein (4th) and Coeff (23rd).
As for the PFC, he won against Caen (1-0) thanks to a direct free-kick from the right-hand signed name that took advantage of the crumbling of the opponent’s wall (26th), without having mastered everything. In fact, the Normans came up with several equalizers after the break. They even received a penalty which was slapped by Alexandre Mendy and saved by Demarconnay, decisive. A stopover that can be worth a lot in the balance sheets at the end of the season.
Descent: a reprieve for Nancy
At the end of the ranking, the evening was hot. With the dismissal against Valenciennes (3-0), Grenoble (15th) edged out their opponent from the north (16th) and gained some air in the overall standings. Further down Rodez (17th), held in check by Nancy (1-1), gave up his play-off spot at QRM, who were beaten at home by Nîmes (0-1). Dunkirk, he didn’t budge from his nineteenth spot while Nancy offered a reprieve while awaiting the next day’s terror game against QRM.
Rodez chained a seventeenth game without success against Nancy (1-1)
