Ann Arbor – Join Motawi Tileworks for a big celebration of 3-0 tile making workshops, a new gallery and employee art sale.
On Saturday, October 1, community members can stop by The Ann Arbor Company for a self-guided tour of an archival show and shop of homemade ceramics and art by folded artisans.
If that is not enough, those who have an artistic side can take part in tile making workshops and go home folded tiles.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Matawi experts will assist participants during the workshops. Attendees can carve their own tiles or holiday ornament that will be emerald-colored glaze.
The tiles will cost $10, the trims are $15. Community members are limited to one of each element.
Those who don’t live locally, or who can’t pick up their pleated glazed tile, can have their tile or trim shipped for $20.
Rovin Ceramics will be at Tileworks from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to show off raku decoration, a special Japanese pottery firing.
Those attending this workshop can choose the design and glaze color for one item for $20.
Those who go into the interior spaces of Tileworks should wear masks.
