SEC’s Crypto Evidence Prompts US Banks to Rethink Custody Projects: Report


In March, the Securities and Exchange Commission said that all publicly listed companies in the United States that act as custodians of cryptocurrency should count their exposure to cryptocurrencies as liabilities rather than assets on their balance sheets, and disclose the risks associated with these assets to investors. The SEC guidance said that the custody of crypto assets by lenders presents unique technological, legal and regulatory risks compared to other assets.
