Internet Summit: Find out how to keep your business safe

We get it: Staff shortages, supply chain issues, and the discussion of working from home may dominate work-related internal office meetings.

However, these issues shouldn’t make you forget about a single event that could get in the way of your business – even shutting it down – in a matter of seconds: a cyber attack.

for this reason Meadowlands room hosts cyber summit Wednesday morning time Felician University in Rutherford (Register here).

The panel will include three federal agents — representatives from the FBI, Homeland Security and the Secret Service — along with a Defense Department contractor and Professor Felician Mazdak Zamani, a cybersecurity specialist at Felician Business School.

The chief executive of the Chamber of Meadowlands, Jim Kirkus, said the goal is not only to remind companies that cyber threats remain prevalent, but to give leaders actionable elements that help prevent them.

“Many companies underestimate the cybersecurity threat prevalent today,” Kirkus said. “We hope that hosting this online summit will attract the attention of entrepreneurs and business owners to protect their businesses.

“Every day, hundreds of millions of dollars are lost due to ransomware attacks and theft of critical data.”

The idea for the event came from the members, said Michael Knaus, Head of the Advocacy and Membership Experience Team at the Meadowlands Chamber.

“While meeting with small business owners during a round table, the topic of threats to business arose: the same word kept coming up over and over again: the Internet,” he said.

“We know the problem is not going away, and as a business services organization, we need to lead the way and provide resources and education to our members.”

Here is a look at the committee members:

  • Terence Riley: Special Agent in Charge, FBI;
  • Sandeep Singh: Special Agent for Homeland Security;
  • Scott Keenan: Technical Team Assistant, Secret Service;
