Eight girls and a boy compete for the 2022 Seymour Oktoberfest Prize.
Beta Kappa Chapter 697 Epsilon Sigma Alpha International once again sponsors the festival’s annual Prince and Princess competition.
The only prince contestant is Red Barlow, 9, son of Amanda and Josh Barlow.
The princess contestants are Isabella Miller, 6, the daughter of Alexus Smith. Mia Beasley Crank, 6, daughter of Michelle and Josh Clark; Lila Stout, 7, daughter of Blaine and Danny Stout; Kela Mellencamp, 6, daughter of Angie Villarreal; Kaede Budd, 8, daughter of Tami Budd; Oakley Cafe, 6, daughter of Killig Cafe; Abigail Fezzi, 6, daughter of Christina Fezzi; and Ava Marie Kay Lewis, 7, daughter of Keisha and Bobby Lewis.
The contest is for boys and girls residing in Jackson County aged 6-10 years prior to Oktoberfest. This year’s festival is September 29 – October 1.
The Prince and Princess winners are determined by who collects the most money by the 1pm deadline on September 28.
The coronation will take place during the opening ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. on September 29 at the North Theater on Third and Chest Streets in downtown Seymour.
The crowned prince and princess will each receive a beta kappa bicycle and other prizes. All contestants who submit donations will receive a bag full of prizes.
Riders can also ride on the show, which begins at 1:30 p.m. October 1.
The money raised through this project will benefit many Beta Kappa charitable projects, ways and means. Some of the annual projects are Jackson County United Way, Community Provisions of Jackson County, Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County, Arc of Jackson County, Easter Seals, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
