On Saturday, the company announced the death of the owner and co-founder of sports drinks company Red Bull.
Dietrich Mateschitz began marketing the drink in Austria in 1987, according to the company.
“In these moments, it’s just too much to feel sad,” Red Bull said in a company-wide email to employees. “But soon grief will give way to gratitude – gratitude for what he has changed, moved, encouraged and made possible for so many individuals. We will keep in touch with him with respect and affection.”
In addition to its flagship product, Red Bull under Mateschitz was best known for its extensive marketing of extreme sports and events, including the 2012 skydiving from the edge of space. It also sponsors two Formula 1 teams.
“He was a visionary entrepreneur and a man who helped transform our sport and create the Red Bull brand known around the world,” Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a written statement.
